Before founding Fulcrum Investigation, James was an investigative journalist for Willamette Week newspaper in Portland covering the justice system, law enforcement and other beats. Originally from Ohio, he worked as a reporter in Europe, Asia and Central Washington before moving to Portland in 2007. He’s been a licensed investigator in Oregon since 2011, and his clients include some of the most prominent trial lawyers in the state.
James’s work has made a difference in cases ranging from simple accidents to complex litigation that takes years to investigate. He specializes in locating hard-to-find subjects, building a rapport with witnesses, shooting compelling photos and video, tracking down public records, delivering thorough background and asset checks, distilling complex situations into readable reports, and testifying with grace under pressure.
